RARA-AVIS: Chandler/Cain

interesting that Chandler's feelings about Cain didn't stop him from adapting Double Indemnity to the screen.
I like Chandler for his worldview and his prose. I like Hammett for his plotting. but I love James M. Cain for all the reasons that Chandler apparently despised him for.
I would also say that Cain is more noir than hardboiled, since my definition of noir is that one lives in a world of no hope.
