It ain't hard-boiled? I hear many, many voices to the contrary. How about this: generally considered to be in that category?

Just like the PREY books recently mentioned. Although some say "not HB", the Mysterious Bookshop catalogs always list new Sanford books as hard-boiled. Close enough to an expert opinion?
