Circle Books is a small generalist bookshop in Sarasota, but with a very active signing schedule that emphasizes (maybe because so many live in the state) crime writers. Past events have featured E.C. Ayres, Tom Corcoran, James W. Hall, Carl Hiaasen, Jean Heller, Stuart Kaminski, Walter Satterthwait and Les Standiford. The summer schedule isn't finalized yet, but already scheduled are Randy Wayne White (May), David Ramus (June) and Ace Atkins and Tim Dorsey (both July). Circle sells new books only.

Other FL bookshops worth a look are St. Pete's venerable Haslam's, Inkwood in Tampa and Dunn & Dunn (Naples). Over on the East Coast, Try Books & Books in Coral Gables and Gebharts Books in Riviera Beach. PB
