RARA-AVIS: The Prather - McTiernan Connection

I just visited IMDB and found out that despite his fame Richard Prather was never filmed. But there is a connection between his "The Meandering Corpse" and John McTiernan's "Last Action Hero", at least according to the IMDB some ideas were based on the book. I don't remember this. Is Prather given credit in the film? What parts of the films are from Prather's book?
