I recently finished reading Pulp Fantastic, a 3 issue comic
book mini-series loosely based on The Maltese Falcon but with
a science fiction twist. Co-written by Howard Chaykin (who
has worked the sci fi HB vein before--Times Squared, American
Flagg), this one has it all: sex, androids, big guns, femmes
fatales, corrupt cops, and a PI named Vector Pope who is
trying to sort it all out. Not nearly as pure HB as Frank
Miller's Sin City stories, but still entertaining. Pulp
Fantastic is published by DC as part of their Vertigo
line.
