It was mostly the S & M scenes that were cut to make Solomon's Vineyard into Fifth Grave. Sure, they're pretty mild by today's standards, but so are many of the books that were once considered pure porn -- Donald Westlake describes the soft-core porn books he wrote early in his career as "euphemism books," because you couldn't come right out and say anything, all you could do was hint. This was in the early '60s, a decade later than Solomon's Vineyard.
