RARA-AVIS: two queries

From: stephen holden ( sjholden@hotmail.com)

I wonder if rara-avians could help with these two disparate queries:

1) In Pelecanos' 'The Sweet Forever' he refers to 'a Lincoln with suicide doors.' What are 'suicide doors'?

2) Is the ending of Highsmith's 'The Talented Mr Ripley' different from that of the film(s)? If so, how?

Thanks,

-Stephen Holden-
