RARA-AVIS: Von Elsner

From: McHale, Steve ( SMcHale@filenet.com)

I remember reading one of those Winkman bridge tournament mysteries. It struck me as one of those decent postwar HB works despite the odd settings.

> Because a friend of mine played bridge with him, I know Don Von Elsner
> lived near Hilo when he was still writing. I'm familiar with his series
> featuring bridge pro Jake Winkman. Jake of DIAMONDS/How To Succeed at
> Murder
> Without Really Trying, is set in Honolulu. The two others in the series,
> Jack of Hearts and Ace of Spies are not set there, but you might check
> his
> other books.
