I would say that Rabe is a (slightly) lesser Charles
Williams. The high level of skill is similar in both authors,
but Rabe was more commercial, even opportunistic, whereas
Williams's books are more personal, deeper, qualitites that
become more evident with the passage of time.
By all means you should track Rabe's stuff. He wrote a lot of
paperbacks; all the ones I've read are good to very good
reads. It's a refreshing, sassy kind of popular
literature.
