What about Faye Kellerman's Romulus Poe series? While the one
I read, MOON MUSIC, contained elements of the supernatural,
Poe certainly seemed hardboiled to me. The book was grim and
dark, and Poe borders on the edge of morality. It was a good,
if not strange, read.
