The only Ellroy book I've ever read was The Black Dahlia, and
oddly it didn't make much of an impression on me. (I say
oddly, because Ellroy seems to be one of those guys you
either love or hate.) What it reminded me of, actually, was a
Joseph Wambaugh novel with more violence. Which is okay, but
nothing to tell your Mom about.
I may give the LA Quartet another chance.
