I love the DKA books. If that were all Gores wrote he might
have made my list. I really liked Hammett, but have not been
as fond as some of his others. Obviously, my making
restrictions as I did, I I damaged the chances of very
versatile authors like Lawrence Block or Donald Westlake to
be named. I've read all of Block's series except the
Scudders. I read one of that series and didn't like it enough
to seek out more. I've considered Westlake my favorite
mystery author, yet I read one of his humorous novels years
ago and it left no me no impression. It was only when I read
my first Stark that I started seeking out all his stuff.
