RARA-AVIS: Hardboiled SF novels

It's hardly an original observation, but anyone interested in hardboiled sf novels should definitely check out the cyberpunk sub-genre. In particular: William Gibson's Neuromancer, Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive and Burning Chrome (a collection); George Alec Effinger's When Gravity Fails; and maybe Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash.
