Godard's Made in U.S.A. is based on Richard Stark's AKA
Donald Westlake's "The Jugger". Truffaut's "The Long Weekend"
is based on Charles Williams's book of the same name and "The
Bride Wore Black" is based on Cornell Woolrich's book of the
same name.
Henri Verneuil made a film based on Goodis's novel, it might
be "Black Sunday", but I'm not sure about the name.
Jacques Tourneur filmed "Nightfall" in 1957, but that's
actually an American film!
You can also check IMDB with the author's name - just put
e.g. David Goodis in "Film Crew".
