How about Chandler's women as "Eve," the temptress? Having
just worked through the Big Sleep again, Marlowe's saying
women make him sick, I think his view of women is more of
their basic human failure than a devil or saint thing.
Because the Sternwood women are not really devils, and Silver
Wig isn't a saint. Everything's in the mud.
