Mario,
The Kurosawa film that Juri mentioned was released to English
speaking countries as "HIGH AND LOW." In Japan (and some
other countries) it was known as "HEAVEN AND HELL." It was
based on Ed McBain's "KING'S RANSOM." Find it. Watch it. Love
it.
"THE BAD SLEEP WELL" is a different flick.
Kurosawa did write his life story - sort of - in "SOMETHING
LIKE AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY," a slim, but wonderful book that can't
come close to being the definitive story of this man's life.
But what could? He was one of the greatest film directors
that ever lived and he lived through amazing, turbulent
times. It would take many volumes to cover his life and work.
He, alas, only gave us one.
