I am headed to Germany for a much needed vacation and thought some regional travel material would be nice.

I saw there is a Berlin Noir by Philip Kerr. Worth it?

Any other recommendations? I was thinking gritty old Eastern block spy stories sort of like Martin Cruz Smith's Moscow.

Berlin Noir is great!!!!!!!!

I haven't started the last novel in the trilogy, but if the first two are any indication, this last part should be just as good. This is not spy stuff, but rather period American noir style set in 1930s-1940s Berlin. Kerr is also masterful at creating a period Berlin...just as grimy, and dark and sinister as you always thought it would be.
Too bad that Kerr has stopped writing noir.
