I know there's a bit of excitement about Easy on TV, but does
anyone think this is a bad idea? I'm remembering Spencer For
Hire.
I mean, make the movies based on the books, but as soon as
you try to turn this character into a weekly series type,
it's cliche city. He'll lose the punch. He won't be the
same--we would expect or want a representation based on the
guy we read about, but would probably get someone diluted
through Hollywood scriptwriting panels totally devoid of
interest in an effort to keep from scaring advertisers
("Mouse can only kill three people this week, and two of them
must be clearly evil, or else Gap is pulling their
spot.")
Sorry to sound so cynical. Maybe if this were on HBO, I would
feel better.
