I just polished off The Dead... in about a day, I'd just finished Thieves Like Us and so I was quite glad of the light relief. It was ok, I thought it was a bit like a locked room story, but with the slightly wild ending tagged on. Some of the asides and characterisations were pretty amusing, especially the bit about Ernest. Lots of alchohol drunk- I must try the Bacardi mix with lime sometime I want to shed a few thousand braincells-, lots of nice clothes, pretty people, which are all commented on in detail by Crane, hmm, can't see many other HB tecs thinking how handsome his partner was *unless it was Nora Charles. Trouble is, what do I read now Jane
