RARA-AVIS: The Hunter/Payback

Hello, all.

I saw PAYBACK in February, and just read Stark's THE HUNTER
(re-released as PAYBACK). I need to see the movie again, but for now, I agree with Kevin. Helgeland and Gibson didn't change a lot. Gibson's Porter was a bit more sympathetic, but most of the essential action is the same.
Most of my fellow moviegoers panned it as too dreary. They didn't enjoy Porter's torture scene much. (Why was that included?)
FYI, Helgeland quit as director just before the movie was completed. Gibson cited creative differences.
