I thought the weird thing about the Bowman article was the
selection of Children of Light. I'm behind on my Stone, but
it seems to me that any one of his earlier novels is more
applicable. Children of Light is tawdry Hollywood, I suppose,
but it has all that stuff from Kate Chopin's Awakening--not
too noir. Dogs of War is perhaps more traditionally
hard-boiled--either way, it's all "litratchure," as Reed
would say.
