This is an insightful and readable book. While Millar himself
is not a
sympathetic character, to me (though I do find Archer to be
so), there's
no doubt he was both interesting and urbane, with a decided
penchant for
the literary. I'll be the first to admit I read (and will
continue to
read) the Archer series with the shallowest of intentions
and
understanding, the "greek tragedy" he imbues the Archer
series with is
of some enduring value.
