RE: RARA-AVIS: It's a steal. (formerly God is a Bullet)

Wed, 21 Apr 1999 02:41:35 -0400 (EDT) Taxi Driver, another homage to the Searchers (as well as Arthur Bremer's
Assassin's Diary and Dostoevski's Notes From Underground), has been
influential in its own right, especially in England (I'm talking about
in fiction, not reality, ie. Hinkley). The Brit blaxploitation book Cop
Killer (forget the author, but it's printed by the same people who first
published Victor Headley, X Press?) is a blatant, and not that great,
rip-off. Helen Zahavi's Dirty Weekend is a harsh, but very good
variation on Travis Bickle featuring a woman "who would not take it."
