Speaking of Hollywood as a setting for hardboiled novels, let
me
recommend (it's not the first time) William Campbell Gault's
_Death Out
of Focus_, one of his finest efforts. It is a classic noir
novel. I have
it in a fine collection called _Hollywood Kills_ published by
Carroll &
Graf. I don't know if it's still in print, but should not be
hard to
find used.
