RARA-AVIS: "Hollywood" novels

Tue, 13 Apr 1999 22:00:34 -0400 Fred mentioned GET SHORTY, which is okay, if a little slick for my taste.

The best H'wood novel ever, of course, is DAY OF THE LOCUST, but it seems to
me that (it's unfashionable to like this guy, but he has done some very good
work) Robert Parker did a hell of a job with (and this is gonna make me look
like an idiot) a book whose title I just can't remember. It wasn't STARDUST.
It was earlier. Rachel Wallace, maybe?

It's not set in Hollywood, but Les Roberts' A SHOOT IN CLEVELAND is a pretty
good showbiz PI yarn.

And then, of course, there's DAN TURNER!

Ah, yes!
