Some time ago, we (leader Bill and I?) tried to get a
discussion going about
the business of publishing and its attitude toward the
hard-boiled. Perhaps,
with self-identified agent aboard--David Hale Smith--he could
tell us his
inside perspective. Do you see a lot of hard-boiled come across
your desk?
Are editors getting more interested in it or no? Did you market
"God is a
Bullet" to Knopf as a hard-boiled crime novel or as something
other than or
"beyond" that?
