Kevin Smith's post about Poodle Springs is right on the
mark.
Parker was commissioned by Chandler's estate to complete THE
POODLE
SPRINGS STORY and to write PERCHANCE TO DREAM. Chandler had
written the
first four chapters/thirten pages of POODLE SPRINGS, and
Parker picked
up from there. In several interviews Parker has said that,
because
Chandler never outlined in advance, he followed the same
practice in
finishing POODLE SPRINGS.
Parker didn't like doing the two books and wasn't pleased
with
Stoppard's adaption for the HBO movie.
