Good news, Jim, there was a third Laidlaw mystery by William McIlvanney,
Srange Loyalties, which came a long time after the other two, Laidlaw
and The Papers of Tony Veitch. Looking at amazon.co.uk, I see he wrote
a couple more books after that, although they don't appear to be
Laidlaws, The Big Man and Doherty. Are they crime fiction? How are
they?
