Far from being politically incorrect, my understanding is that natives of
Scotland prefer being referred to as "Scots," rather that "Scotchmen."
Another dark police procedural writer you might like is William McIlvanney,
whose two novels about Glasgow Detective Inspector Jack Laidlaw were very
well-received. You might also try Hugh C. Rae and Peter Turnbull. (NOTE:
Though Turnbull is Scotish, his Brit cop novels are set in Yorkshire). - Jim
