RARA-AVIS: J.J. Maloney

reminded me of another book about prison, The Chain by J.J. Maloney.
This was the second of two late '70s, early '80s books I know of by
Maloney. The first was I Speak for the Dead, which I remember as a very
good, very dark, hardboiled reporter novel. The Chain was equally
hardboiled, maybe even more so.

I seem to remember seeing somewhere that Maloney did time, maybe even
wrote his books during that time, but I know nothing else. Does anyone
else know anything about him. Did he ever write another book?
