It's a well-known story, how they contacted Chandler and he
said he didn't
know. How did Chandler plot out his books? Did he write about
this
anywhere, or is it in a bio? I've been reading some stuff by
another
mystery writer about how he plotted his books, and he has it
all there
down to the finest details. I know Chandler liked to have a
man with a
gun climb in the window when things got dull--did he just
start writing
and see where things went?
