Even without any legal impediment it's indelicate (to say the
least) to
take a classic title by one of the great writers in the
*same* genre and
recycle it. Could it be that Colin Dexter doesn't know about
Fredric
Brown?
Now, how do you guys feel about wicked puns, for example

Willeford's _The Way We Die Now_ versus Ross Macdonald's _The
Way Some
People Die_ ?
