Right near the end of _Casino Royale_ James Bond says, "The bitch is
dead." Or so I recall. Ah, but a search on "the wench is dead" at
www.google.com leads to a clew, which leads to:

Friar Barnardine: Thou has committed--
Barabas: Fornication; but that was in another country;
And besides, the wench is dead.

That's from _The Jew of Malta_, by Christopher Marlowe (!). A Gutenberg
