Come on, Buzz is a complete rat... What would you say is his "code of
honor"? As to tough and hardboiled, I don't think Buzz can hold a candle
to Dudley Smith, a character that makes Westlake's Parker look like a
sweet nanny. I find Buzz repugnant, but Dudley is just plain scary, a
dangerous psycho who never loses his cool and his outward bonhomie. He
may be Ellroy's greatest creation to date.
