RARA-AVIS: Leonard's Swag

Stimulated by the mini-discussion of Elmore Leonard, I went and
reread
his 1976 novel _Swag_. I read it in one sitting, and what a
marvellous
book it is! I enjoyed watching how Leonard slowly builds up
the
character of Stick, on which the entire novel rests. The novel
starts
like a caper and ends like a tense western. I fully agree that
this book
should be included among Leonard's best.
