Re: RARA-AVIS: More on the Macdonald bio

Tue, 16 Mar 1999 10:18:33 -0600 I've always been more interested in the other MacDonald -- the "real"
MacDonald, if you will -- that being John D. MacDonald. While there have
been plenty of biographical studies on Millar -- thanks no doubt to what
Charles Willeford termed the "conspiracy" (led by bearded bore John
Leonard) to elevate him to the holy trinity (along with Hammett and
Chandler) of crime writers -- I've never stumbled across any biographical
works (as opposed to the several fine critical works out there) on John D.
MacDonald. Have there been any? Does anyone know of any in the works?
