Re: RARA-AVIS: Future readings

Mon, 08 Mar 1999 10:33:45 -0800 I applaud your suggestion of Iceberg Slim and Donald Goines, since my
admiration for them is no secret. I have seen two different editions of
Iceberg Slim around, and probably the one available on Amazon is the
large trade pb, which "presented by Ice Cube." This is an expensive
edition, and I much prefer the Holloway Houses, ($3 or 4.95) in their
slick gold covers, ALWAYS available at that citadel of culture, the
newstand on Cahuenga in Hollywood! Don't know if you can get these at
other areas in the country, but I suspect they've been continually in
print for over twenty years.

I like the McCoy suggestion ... however, I believe these are even harder
to find, and out of print. "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye" is superb. And "They
Shoot Horses" is worth the read, since it is so unique and noir in its
world view.
