in bookstores under S, as if Slim were his last name), shouldn't we
consider their ancestor, Chester Himes?

Also, to those who like Iceberg Slim: if you don't already know, the
Infinite Zero label (put out by Rick Rubin and Henry Rollins) has
reissued his album, Reflections, on CD. It's a trip, with Slim talking
in rhyme over some of the lamest pseudo-jazz ever recorded. It's also
strange how much nastier his material seems when spoken, instead of
read, much like The Basketball Diaries by Jim Carroll.
