the eigth, The Ravagers, I think they hold up well. I think they are
tougher and less outlandish than the contemporary Bond books.
One thing bothers me. In many of them his objective is to be captured. In
The Shadowers he goes to meet the well armed villain with no weapons
figuring he can live long enough to capture him because the villain uses a
small caliber gun! Again going back to the Bonds or even many P I books,
authors contrive to have the hero get in these situations inadverdently.
Incidentally, except for this flaw, I thought The Shadowers was one of the
best I have read of the series.
