I can add a mite to this: I recently posted two websites with info on
hardboiled authors. One was Vintage...blacklizard. Whole address was
<...www.timesbooks.com/vintage/read/blacklizard>.

In a 1992 edition of Highsmith's The Talented Mr. Ripley, I notice that the
lizard image right before "Vintage Crime" on the spine. The title pages
lists the series as "Vintage Crime/Black Lizard," so I guess they've folded
one group into another. Vintage is owned by Random House, unless it too
has been folded or merged into some soft drink company.
