Re: RARA-AVIS: More Blurbs

Thu, 14 Jan 1999 21:36:35 -0500 (EST) After a screening of the documentary about Ellroy, the author stood
around and talked with a few of us for about an hour (until time to
introduce the next screening). Someone asked why he wrote only one PI
novel. Ellroy replied something like, The whole genre is inherently
corrupt, then referred to an 87th Precinct novel where one of the cops
says,You know the last time a private detective solved a murder case?
Never.

So I asked, if that's the case, why does he blurb so many PI books. He
responded, I owe a lot of favors.
