I may be counted in the side of lovers of THE AX. I was repelled, but
the emotions were somehow not entirely foreign. I put it down several
times, because it was too intense for me. I work in health-care, and all
the changes have made it so unsettling these days. Each bulletin and
statement set out by the CEO is just a reminder of how precarious the
climate for health-care workers. I passed the book all around at
work...kinda scary! ( We all loved it.) When I heard about the book, for
some reason I thought it would be a comedy.
I haven't read any other Westlake/Stark books. Thanks for the reminder
to look for them. What a marvelous story-teller! My thoughts returned
to THE AX many times. It was haunting. Any recommendations on which
books to look for? Shannon
