That's correct, according to Bill Crider's essay in "The big book of noir".
But the title he recommends most is "Be My Victim", a non series book that
takes place in Florida, not D. C.

I think Deitrich was the pen name of E. Howard Hunt (yay Watergate). So, he
can at least offer you some novelty and a sense of history as well as a
fair-to-good story.
