Thu, 10 Dec 1998 17:41:52 -0600 You guys have me thinking about old time authors, so I went down to our
little town library thinking, no way I'm gonna find a thing. Back in the
short story section, (Oops, I must say anthology or get a finger shoved in
my face) I found an old beat up thing with "Great Mysteries" hand written on
its cover. Inside it says, "Ten Great Mysteries," edited by Howard Haycraft
and John Beecroft. Published by Doubleday, 1959.

In the collection is

"The Maltese Falcon, by Hammett.

A story, "The Learned Adverture of The Dragon's Head" by Dorothy L. Sayers.

A novelette, "The Case of The Crying Swallow," by Erle Stanley Gardner

A story, "The Witness for The Prosecution," by Adatha Christie, (made into a
movie, right??)

A story, "The Adventure of The President's Half Disme," by Ellery Queen.

A novelette, "The Case of The Late Pig," by Maregery Allingham.

A story, "No Motive," by Daphne du Maurier

A novelette, "Die Like a Dog," by Rex Stout

A story, "The Dancing Detective," by William Irish (Cornell Woolrich)

A novel, "The Franchise Affair," by Josephine Tey.

Most of these names mean nothing to me, but I'm sure they're familiar to all
of you.

Shame on you all, because now I'm gonna be reading instead of writing.

Can't wait to see their style.
