I have been a Matt Helm fan for years. Ever since my older
brother lent me
a book when I was in my early teens. He's one of the few that I
can read
over and over again. The reason why is the Helmian personality.
His way of
putting life and sudden death into perspective. His cranky
asides to us
about the world. He is the ultimate pro in the world of mostly
amatures.
How many times in your job have had to deal with those who
supposed to be
pros, but are amatures in disguise. The kind of people who in
Helms world
wave their guns around and say stick 'em up. It's what makes me
come back
to him after a day of dealing with so-called humanity.
Any way I would like to say thanks to the fellow who posted
that Wash. Post
article's address I found it very good. And I will show it to
people who
talk about those movies or don't know who Helm is. And thank
you Donald
Hamilton for such enjoyble words and characters.
