Perhaps, but it is a TV show, not a book, and the primary focus of
this list is works on paper. I've eased up quite a bit on my nagging,
but I do ask that people remember that RARA-AVIS is meant to be a
place to talk about hardboiled fiction, that you read, not watch, or
hear, or have beamed into your neocortex. Adaptations are certainly
fair game, as is a lot of other stuff - there's no dearth of possible
topics - but please keep the main target in mind before you send a
mesage.

On another note, I'd like to thank the people who recommended Donald
Hamilton's Matt Helm books. I'd associated them with the Dean Martin
movies and other series of books like Mack Bolan's Tough Men With Guns
or The Destabilizer, but the comparisons to Hammett are apt. They're
fast, lean, tough and sometimes quite funny books.
