I agree that both Valin and Greenleaf are really good. They have that
self-aware, depressed loner bit down. It may just be that I started
reading them all at about the same time, but I've always grouped Michael
Z. Lewin's Albert Samson books (his Leroy Powder books are equally good)
with these two.
