RARA-AVIS: Possible readings

Mon, 23 Nov 1998 22:32:12 -0500 (EST) Since British and European writers are proving to be a bit of a
problem, why not pick up on Donald Hamilton, who's been getting some
talk lately? Say the first Matt Helm book, _Death of a Citizen_?
Amazon.com does show it as being out of print but it's the kind of
book that's not hard to find in used stores, at least in North
America. Perhaps those who can't find it can substitute another Matt
Helm book.

Then we could run through some of the old suggestion list by doing
Andrew Vachss, Gary Lovisi and Elmore Leonard. I've never read
anything by Lovisi, but I know Vachss and Leonard ought to offer some
good fodder for discussion, especially about where hardboiled fiction
is today.
