According to Pronzini, Cain wrote 17 stories for Black Mask
before
joining the exodus after Shaw left. He published two more
stories, one
each in Star Detective and Detective Fiction Weekly. Fast One
was
compiled from 5 of the Black Mask stories and "The best of
the remaining
dozen appear in Seve Slayers."
