_The Virgin Kills_. Are these just as good?

DEATH IN A BOWL is a hard-boiled private-eye novel about the death of
an orchestra conductor in the Hollywood Bowl, I believe. It's real,
dyed-in-the-wood Black Mask stuff and very well written. THE VIRGIN
KILLS takes place aboard a yacht named THE VIRGIN on which a alot of
society types are having a party. The murders are solved by a
tough-talking newspaper reporter and his pal, a professional thug. An
interesting Depression-era background, but the mystery isn't as good,
nor the characters as well-drawn as those in BOWL.
